It's holiday time ! First one to visit is Fuerteventura.
Vicky's favourite place, Falmouth.
LET'S GET AWAY !
The island of Fuerteventura, being one of the Canary Islands, is more or less guaranteed good weather. Just what me & Vicky wanted - it's fairly quiet, good beaches, good weather, excellent hotel (all inclusive 5*) and great food & drink. We've booked for same time, next year, but we're trying the north of the island.
The Hotel Jandia Princess - everything you want here.
View of the beach (VV LONG BEACH TOO!)
Spent loads of time here
The COCO LOCO BAR !!
767 (I think?) -
Got us there & back safely anyway !
No Vicky, you can't take one of the wild local chipmunks home with you.
Water's bloody cold ! - Don't you agree ?
Apart from the German Naturists, this is a well known erection in Jandia.
Godrevy Lighthouse, St Ives Bay Wheal Cotes, Nr St Agnes
Remember Boscastle - what a mess !. Clovelly - lovely place but what a hill !!
Celtic remains, Lanyon Quiot and Men an Tol
Daphne du Mauriers Frenchmans Creek
The lovely Phoenix Hotel in not-so-lovely Tsilivi
Harvey's Bar
Kefalonia from Zante
It's Fuerteventura again, but the north side, to Corralejo.
Corralejo has more to do than Jandia - both places we'd go to again - going back to Jandia (same hotel) in September. It has a lovely harbour (above) fronted by eating places & bars. Made the Talk of the Town (below) our local - think they're glad we came home as I won the music quiz every night - anybody want a T Shirt !
Took a day out to visit Lanzarote on the boat - nice trip where you see the fish Herring ???) from the bottom. Next time we'll pay a visit to Lobos, which is pictured above. All in all a very nice time at Fuerteventura.
NODDY & BIG EARS' BIG OUTDOOR CARAVAN ADVENTURE TO YARMOUTH (P...ing it down)
Yarmouth Caravan Park
The hat is obligatory !
...and they're off (but not yet)
Cromer
Potter Heigham - that bridge is VERY narrow !
Southwold - for some very sad reason, we quite liked this place - it featured on Coast.
Back to Jandia, and the Jandia Princess Hotel - lovely place
1st port of call - Coco Loco bar
Salud !
Vik, Me & George
Hired a car for a day & toured ALL the island - was a bit hair raising, I can tell you.
On the way to find a Farmacia - bloody Mosquito's
Puerto del Rosario - they forgot to tell us the place was closed on Saturdays.
Thought we'd try the Channel Tunnel, so went to Bruges for a few days - lovely place, but damn cold - needed another hat !
Stayed 1 night at Folkestone, with the Tinsel & Turkey mob - a very ageing process !
Customs & going down to the train - brilliant !
Stopped off at Dunkerque - this is a plaque on the beach remembering Operation Dynamo (I think)
Bruges is lovely - especially around Christmas
...and you can drink & have a fag !
...but no pissing in the street !
A quick trip to Stratford on Avon
Shakespeare's birthplace Ann Hathaway's cottage
Holiday Inn, where we stayed -
(very good)
Much of the same in March 2008 -Corralejo
A QUICK VISIT TO WEST SCOTLAND
June 2008
Day 1 - stopped at the Star Hotel, in Moffatt - worlds narrowest hotel mesuring 20' wide ! - nice place..
After much driving around lochs, we arrive at Campbeltown, Kintyre - rather a dull run down place, but intereting from a Beatles point of view, if you look on 'More Beatles Stuff' & 'Beatle Homes'
Mull of Kintyre - the actual beach where Paul & Wings performed the song for video.
Edinburgh castle from Princes St - must say Edinburgh's bus system is brill !
The castle, ready to host the tattoo.
Where we stayed - nice hotel.
August 1st 2008 - surprise birthday treat to Dublin
Hey, what a place !
Suite Atlantis resort & the Talk of the Town
NEXT STOP - CYPRUS
Watch out Vik - Rover's behind you
!
Outside no. 6's cottage next to Patrick
McGoohan's actual jacket.
Thought we'd try Tenerife this time, so off we went to Playa de las
Americas. Still feel we prefer Jandia, even though the Jerries piss you off !
Little bridges like this made it a
really quaint place.
Enjoyed a trip to Puerto Mogan - little
venice.
Puerto Rico - 1 side was a bit commercial, but
the other side, the port, is really nice.
Just had 2 nights out in Caernarfon, near
the castle.
Riu Vistamar, Amadores - a really nice hotel
high up between Amadores & Puerto Rico.
View of Amadores from the hotel - the
road to the beach was v v steep, but that didn't bother me,
as I jogged up & down it -NOT !
Pool view - a must
Never to be one to miss a Beatles connection,
the Yellow Submarine, in the harbour - went on market day.
Quite a convincing 'metal man' on the harbour
wall.
Swallow Falls, near Betws y Coed. I
was quite impressed, but Vik didn't think it was worth the
£1.00 we spent !
Just had to visit this place on
Anglessey - and I can pronounce it, so there !
Had a day out at Portmeirion where The
Prisoner was filmed - a fascinating place.
